HPD Expands Technology Offering With CeraMem® Ceramic Membranes

Plainfield, IL - HPD, a Veolia Water Technologies (VWS) company and the world’s largest evaporation and crystallization process and equipment supplier, has expanded their offering to include CeraMem® ceramic membrane technology. CeraMem membranes feature a proprietary technology platform that combines innovative design features and unique materials of construction to provide larger capacities than other ceramic membranes at costs comparable to polymeric membranes.
CeraMem membrane technology allows the utilization of large-diameter ceramic monoliths that reduce the overall footprint of installed equipment. Developed mainly for microfiltration (MF) and ultrafiltration (UF) membranes, CeraMem ceramic membranes offer a low-fouling solution in harsh environments that is suitable for high temperature applications. This, coupled with a high resistance to chemical and abrasive attacks during operation, permits the use of membranes in some of the most challenging processes in water and wastewater treatment. One such challenging environment is deoiling of produced water in the oil and gas industry.
“We are very excited about offering this unique technology to complement our core expertise in process design,” commented HPD President, Jim Brown. “The CeraMem ceramic membrane technology will be instrumental in providing solutions to many of the issues currently limiting water and wastewater treatment systems.”
The CeraMem technology was developed with assistance provided by the Small Business Innovation Research Programs of the Department of Energy, Department of Agriculture, National Science Foundation, and Environmental Protection Agency as well as funding provided by the Expeditionary Unit Water Purification (EUWP) program managed by the Office of Naval Research. The addition of this innovative ceramic membrane technology further broadens VWS’ extensive offering to the oil and gas industry and demonstrates an overall commitment to provide added value to customers through differentiating technologies and solutions.
