TUV NEL Ltd
Extraction of oil, in particular heavy oils, and bitumen from oil sands requires the use of a significant amount of water, which may include freshly extracted water and treated water. With a limited supply of fresh water resources and the need to expand oil extraction capacity for oil supply, water management becomes increasingly important. Good oilfield water management will not only require a clear understanding of the regulatory framework and requirements, and technologies available, but also a holistic and forward thinking approach. 2010 Workshop Building on the success of its previous produced water workshops, international conferences and seminars, TUV NEL is hosting its inaugural Oilfield Water Management Workshop on 15 and 16 September 2010 in Calgary. Leading industry experts and government regulators have been invited to address the following topic areas: • Legislation and regulatory requirements • Water resources and usage • Water quality and quantity • New and emerging water treatment technologies • Re-use of treated water and its operational impact • Re-injection practices • Water quality measurement • Management of tailings
