EAGC Confirms Top Speaker Line Up
An exciting conference programme with an array of industry leading speakers has been confirmed for the 25th anniversary of the European Autumn Gas Conference (EAGC). Hosted by RWE Supply & Trading and sponsored by E.ON Ruhrgas, eni, Gas Strategies and Gasunie, the EAGC is one of Europe's longest running annual gas conferences, with senior executives representing the most important gas players in the market.
Held on 9-10 November 2010 at the Andel's Hotel Berlin, the programme this year is based on the topical theme, "Forging a prosperous pathway through volatile times". The programme committee includes many of Europe's most influential gas executives ensuring the EAGC will thoroughly explore the most relevant and topical issues driving the European gas industry today.
Speaker topics focus on fundamental questions for the future of the European gas industry including, ‘Is our energy future too important to leave to market forces?' and ‘Do we need more supply if there is going to be less demand?' and ‘Does Europe need any new pipelines, and if so, which one?' and ‘What is the economic impact of unconventional gas?'
EAGC will explore the role of gas in '20 20 20' in terms of sustainability and European percentage targets on emissions reduction, less energy use, more renewably-sourced power and whether renewable subsidies are sustainable.
Speakers include industry leaders and executives from RWE Trading & Supply, E.ON Ruhrgas, the European Green Party of the European Parliament, GDF Suez, Qatargas, International Association of Oil and Gas Producers, Gas Strategies, Shell, eni, Petronet and more.
"The main reason Europe's top gas executives come back to the EAGC year after year, is the unique blend of stimulating ideas and ideal opportunities to mix with the people you really want to talk to. And the 25th Anniversary event in Berlin looks set to exceed all our expectations," said James Ball, President Director of Gas Strategies and Chairman of EAGC 2010.
Year-on-year, the EAGC brings together the gas industry's business leaders, policymakers, strategists and traders to discuss, debate and formulate solutions to the key issues affecting today's commercial European gas market.
"The global economic downturn of the last two years together with the energy price volatility has proved trying for producers, traders and consumers alike. Additionally, the ‘politicisation' of gas supplies keeps the issue of energy security permanently at the forefront of political and business agendas," said Stefan Judisch, CEO of RWE Supply & Trading and host of the EAGC 2010.
"We are very proud to host the 25th Anniversary event. RWE and its growing gas business have strong roots to Germany, but at the same time our pan-European activities provide us with a strong position in the UK, the Netherlands and central eastern Europe. The 2010 EAGC will thus be the ideal platform to continue the dialogue on Europe's energy future."
Stefan concluded, "We will be able to share views and news on important topics as the Nabucco and other pipeline projects or the development of the LNG business in North-Western Europe. EAGC 2010 will certainly be a very important event for Europe's gas future and RWE Supply & Trading is proud to not only work on Europe's energy future but to also be able to host one of the major conferences during the year."
