Nexen UK Becomes IMarEST Marine Partner

May 5, 2009

The IMarEST Marine Partner initiative is rapidly expanding, and now numbers over 30 organizations around the world that are enjoying a closer working relationship with the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology. One of the latest organisations to join the initiative is Nexen Petroleum U.K. Limited part of the Nexen Inc group.

"We are delighted to welcome Nexen UK as a Marine Partner and looking forward to working ever more closely with them to achieve their objectives of Marine Partner membership," says Samantha Dawkins, Corporate Relations Executive at IMarEST. "Marine Partners is a customised corporate package created by working together with companies, universities, research institutes, and training colleges. We develop our partnership depending on the level of involvement each partner wishes to have as we recognize every corporate partner has different needs."

It was in December 2004 that Nexen became involved, by acquisition, in the UK North Sea. Nexen UK operates the Buzzard, Scott and Telford fields. The Ettrick development in the North Sea is progressing towards first oil in the coming months and consists of a leased floating production, storage, and offloading vessel (FPSO) designed to handle 30,000 bbls/d of oil and 35 mmcf/d of gas.

Further information on all aspects of IMarEST Marine Partners scheme is available on the IMarEST website at www.imarest.org.
