US Seismic Systems And Octave Reservoir Receive Order For Production Fracture Monitoring System

Chatsworth Los Angeles, CA /PRNewswire/ - US Seismic Systems (USSI), a subsidiary company of Acorn Energy, Inc. (NADSAQ: ACFN), and Octave Reservoir Technologies (Octave) announced today that they have received an order for a seismic system based upon USSI's revolutionary fiber optic sensor technology from a leading domestic oilfield seismic service company. This is the fourth significant order received by USSI for oilfield applications in 2011.

Jim Andersen, CEO of USSI said, "This order, which is for a high temperature, down hole fracture monitoring system, addresses the growing need for high performance seismic systems designed to monitor the effectiveness of hydraulic fracture stimulation. Octave and its customer are considered the pioneers in real-time multi-well Hydraulic Fracture stimulation Mapping ('HFM'). We are delighted to be collaborating with them on this important project."

Scott Taylor, CEO of Octave Reservoir stated, "The industry needs a more economical and higher temperature borehole seismic system to provide reliable, high-quality geophysical data. Octave believes this system can result in significant market penetration into the HFM markets both in the US and abroad."

John Moore, CEO of Acorn Energy commented, "Experts claim shale drillers are currently extracting less than 30% of the gas or oil from the 'payzone.' Today less than 4-5% of the over 14,000 hydraulic fracture jobs annually use seismic fracture mapping. If USSI commercializes an affordable and more field friendly sensor the industry could realize a huge productivity windfall."

US Seismic is holding an investor day on July 12, 2011 from 11-5 at its new facility in Chatsworth, CA. Please contact Shae Begolly at 302-656-1707 to register.
