LEWCO Adds Drawworks to Oilfield Product Mix
Houston, Texas -- The LeTourneau Ellis Williams Company (LEWCO), a leading manufacturer of high-performance mud pumps, has added the LEWCO 3000 drawworks to its growing list of heavy-duty oilfield equipment and components. Two models are available: the LEWCO 2000 for up to 2,000 input horsepower and drilling depths of 13,000 to 20,000 feet; and the LEWCO 3000 for up to 3,000 input horsepower and drilling depths of 16,000 to 30,000 feet.
Designed for up to 3,000 input horsepower and drilling depths as great as 30,000 feet, the LEWCO 3000 features a two- or three-motor drive system which can be either variable-frequency AC or SCR-controlled DC. Both the low-drum and high-drum drive clutches use the same PO-336 plate-type clutch for interchangeability and reduced parts-stocking; and they're mounted one shaft behind the main drum shaft for reduced weight and easy access and maintenance.
LEWCO drawworks are equipped with a robust disc braking system featuring hydraulically applied service brake calipers as well as spring-actuated emergency/parking brake calipers for fail-safe operation. According to Don Vogelsang, LEWCO executive vice president and general manager, the hydraulic disc system offers superior performance versus conventional band brakes.
The LEWCO 3000 drawworks comes mounted on an oilfield type skid, with provisions for crane lifting and easy tailboard loading onto transport trucks or rig structures.
