Fundamental to the design of the Fibre Optic Transmission Cable is a reliability strategy based on mechanical and environmental robustness as well as functional redundancy
Wood Group Production Technology to the design of the Fibre Optic Transmission Cable is a reliability strategy based on mechanical and environmental robustness as well as functional redundancy. The cable design is based on a 1/4" steel tube so as to ensure compatibility with standard practice and installation procedures for permanent gauge electric cable. The 1/4" tube saves on termination time and reduces the number of potential leak paths. The combination of the inner buffer and the 0.028" wall thickness provides for superior impact and hydrostatic crush performance as compared to competing Fibre in Metal Tube designs.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Complies with industry standards for 1/4" instrumentation cable
  • Intrinsically safe, non-electrical optical fibre design
  • Employs two single-mode fibres for redundancy or second sensor string
  • Loose tube design ruggedised for down-hole environment
  • Optional DTS fibre incorporated in cable
  • Flood retardant construction limits flow rate in emergency
  • Rated for use to 15,000 psi at 175oC and qualification tested to 18,750 psi at 175oC
Completes connection to CiDRA single point pressure system
Surface cable design available for control room to wellhead interconnection
  • Wellhead termination components available as per customer requirements
  • Fully compatible with future CiDRA instrument systems.
