AMPOL Completes Wool Insulation Job In Mississippi

American Pollution Control Corp. (AMPOL), a leading oil spill response and total environmental solutions provider has completed the installation of wool insulation on a rig conducting operation in Catahoula, Miss., announced AMPOL President Kirk Headley.

Mineral wool insulation was installed on 32- and 30-inch piping and 5-foot by 8-foot silencers and covered with .020 stainless steel jacketing. The .020 stainless steel jacketing made this job unique as this material is very difficult and often dangerous to work with.

The project was successfully completed in 35 days by three supervisors and 24 metal workers and insulation mechanics. The job site required .020 stainless steel jacketing, working at heights and lots of moving equipment on the ground. Special care and planning were required due to multiple contractors on the job site painting, welding, installing electrical wiring and fitting pipe.

“This was the first insulation job conducted for this specific customer by AMPOL and it was definitely a unique situation with everything conducted at heights off scaffolds,” said Headley. “The experience was great for AMPOL and the client will benefit from the prolonged life and performance of the machinery.”
