Dresser-Rand To Showcase Environmental Solutions At POWER-GEN Europe 2012

Visit Booth #6E141 to Learn about Dresser-Rand Environmental Solutions Capabilities

During POWER-GEN Europe 2012 in Cologne, Germany, Dresser-Rand, a global supplier of rotating equipment solutions to the oil, gas, petrochemical, power, and process industries, will showcase product lines designed to provide environmental solutions that help meet client sustainability goals and improve the bottom-line.

Visitors of Dresser-Rand booth #6E141 will be introduced to a variety of eco-efficient offerings designed for the power generation and environmental markets, including Dresser-Rand steam turbines, combined heat and power solutions, Guascor gas engines, and gas turbines.

“Whether our client’s business is a hospital, a food manufacturer or an electrical utility, there is one thing they all have in common—the desire to develop a sustainable energy infrastructure,” said Marco Rossi, vice president and general manager of Environmental Solutions at Dresser-Rand. “Dresser-Rand has the right product technologies to help its clients meet their individual sustainability goals and requirements, whether it is through a steam turbine, a combined heat and power system or a gas turbine. At POWER-GEN Europe, we’ll showcase a number of reliable environmental solutions that reduce energy consumption, use waste heat, lower emissions and contribute to a positive return on investment.”

Dresser-Rand Steam Turbines Offer Option for Renewable Power Solutions
Engineers, technicians and executives from the power/electric industry who are looking for ways to produce “green” power from renewable waste resources at the show, will be introduced to the Dresser-Rand steam turbine product line, which provides economical and efficient generator drive solutions from 500-kWe single-stage to 100-MW multi-stage equipment.

Used for a variety of markets and applications including oil and gas, biomass, waste-to-energy, sugar refining, universities, medical centers, etc., Dresser-Rand custom-designed steam turbine generators include a wide range of capabilities and configurations to meet a client’s unique job-specific need.

By customizing each unit, higher operating efficiency of up to four percent, lower maintenance costs and greater reliability can be achieved.

Customized steam turbine units are available with either direct-drive or geared and accommodate inlet steam conditions up to 2000 psig and 1000 degrees Fahrenheit, with exhaust conditions from 800 pounds to condensing. Configurations can include condensing or non-condensing, single or multivalve, single or double automatic extraction, or induction mixed-pressure designs.

Combined Heat and Power Solutions Maximize Green Potential
Visitors of the Dresser-Rand booth can also learn how to optimize the energy potential of their facility by combining their heating with on-site power production.

Dresser-Rand combined heat and power (CHP) solutions can help clients increase energy efficiency and substantially reduce energy costs and carbon emissions by generating electricity on site and recovering heat that would typically be wasted in a conventional power plant.

CHP systems can be designed to accommodate a wide range of fuels including natural gas, diesel, biogas, biodiesel, waste heat, hot water, waste steam, and biomass, and typically range from 100kWe to 2.5MWe with larger capacities available with the incorporation of multi-train systems.

Visitors exploring fuel options for CHP systems will be able to compare the generation of electricity in a thermal power station and the production of heat with a boiler versus the simultaneous generation of electricity and heat in a cogeneration plant equipped with a Guascor power gas engine, which offers savings of about one third the traditional thermal power station / boiler alternative.

Industries that can take advantage of CHP systems can select from a variety of design options and system configurations to match their system requirements and physical plant capabilities.

Gas Turbines Highlight Reduced Life Cycle Costs
Dresser-Rand will showcase the reduced life cycle costs associated with its gas turbine generator sets. While predominately used in the offshore oil & gas industry, Dresser-Rand gas turbines are used extensively throughout the world in general power applications and the rapidly expanding cogeneration market.

Meant to match clients’ electrical system characteristics and any special requirements such as motor-starting capability and voltage dip limitations, Dresser-Rand gas turbine generation packages are designed to fulfill the needs of clients in many markets including oil and gas, industrial, continuous-duty systems.

Designed to comply with site environmental conditions and any specific limitations on noise level, exhaust emissions, space and weight, the turbine, gearbox, and generator are normally aligned on a fabricated steel base, together with auxiliary equipment, to provide an integrated unit.

The gas turbines also come with a variety of optional equipment including: intake and exhaust systems to suit the application, acoustic enclosures, fire protection, gas detection, generator controls, unit switch gears, waste heat recovery systems, air start systems and more.

Service Packages Provide Peace of Mind to Investment in Green Technology
Representatives from Dresser-Rand will be on-hand to not only discuss the company’s product capabilities, but also its service packages, which include everything from spare parts, warranty information, on-site training, and maintenance to high quality on-time repairs and technical services on mature and F-Class frame industrial gas turbines at one of its ISO-certified gas turbine repair facilities.
