Ministry Of Social Development Partner With Oman Oil Company To Implement CSR Projects

Oman Oil Company S.A.O.C (OOC) has signed an agreement with the Ministry of Social Development to support a number of CSR projects targeting people with disabilities. Sheikh Ahmed Bin Hashil Al Maskari, the Minister's Adviser for Planning, signed the agreement on behalf of the Ministry of Education, and Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Mulham Al Jarf represented Oman Oil Company with the attendance of H.E. Dr. Yahya bin Bader Al Mawali Undersecretary of the Ministry

The agreement represents the commitment from both sides to better serve the community and the strategic partnership between Government and Private Sector in implementing sustainable social projects. It also confirms the CSR values of OOC that mainly focuses on supporting Omani youth as well as supporting the sustainable initiatives that specifically serve their needs.

Greenhouse sustainability
One of the projects that will be supported under this agreement is establishing a greenhouse at the Childhood Care Centre. The project aims to provide sustainable financial support to the Centre and enhance the sense of responsibility and work among orphans. The project will be also run in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture.

Training of Caregivers
Moreover, OOC will provide a number of scholarships for the Diploma in Special Education and will be delivered at Sultan Qaboos University. The two year programme will be offered to 21 women working in Al Wafa Centres around the Sultanate. The project is part of the national plan aimed at enhancing the skills of caregivers who provide services to the handicapped, and accordingly improve the quality of the services provided to them.

Interactive technology for the disabled
Furthermore, the agreement involved providing a number of  interactive educational whiteboards to the Care & Rehabilitation Centre for the Disabled, aimed at enhancing the quality of learning at the centre by providing the latest educational technology that could best serve the learning process. Within this framework, Sheikh Ahmed Bin Hashil Al Maskari, the Minister's Adviser for Planning, asserted that the Ministry appreciates Oman Oil Company's support of these programmes.

Commenting on the signing, Mr. Mulham Al Jarf, Deputy CEO of OOC said: "We are proud to support programmes which we believe will contribute positively towards the development of the Omani youth. The initiative forms part of our contribution to a sustainable economy in Oman and complements our subsidiaries' efforts in supporting the society in areas such as employment, health, education and building human capital capacity."

It is worth mentioning that Oman Oil Company has recently initiated a number of CSR programmes such as supporting 216 Omani students in Outward Bound Oman, launching the Youth Summer Training programme, “Ghaytuh” in partnership with the Ministry of Education and held a graduation ceremony for 45 Omani youth who successfully completed training for employment programmes in the areas of Money Exchange, HSE and Auto CAD in partnership with OPAL.
