Compax Upgrade Improves Performance Of HDS Filtration Vessels
Source: Pentair Separation SystemsRecently, Pentair Porous Media conducted a performance demonstration at a Northeast Refiner with our COMPAX® elements.
It was brought to our attention that the HDS A/B filtration vessels were experiencing run time inefficiencies, fluid bypass challenges (resulting from the broken rod pictured below) and escalating operating costs.
Based on the detailed information obtained from refinery personnel, Pentair Porous Media constructed an optimization strategy focused on eliminating potential bypass and providing enhanced fluid quality, while reducing disposal costs (estimated at 60%–80% reduction annually) and total operating costs. In order to obtain a true barometer of the impact associated with Pentair Porous Media’s COMPAX® technology, refinery personnel approved a Pentair Porous Media COMPAX upgrade for the HDS-A vessel, while continuing operations with the conventional technology at HDS-B for comparative analysis. The performance demonstration being conducted involved detailed inlet and outlet fluid quality sample evaluations, comparative run time evaluations and a review of the potential impact on economics for quantifying the total operating costs savings associated with upgrading to Pentair Porous Media technology.
