KROHNE Announces OPTISYS CL 1100 Measurement System For Free Chlorine

New system offers simple and reliable measurement of chlorine content in waterworks

KROHNE, Inc., a global technology leader in the development, manufacture and distribution of accurate, reliable and cost effective measuring instruments for the process industries,announces the OPTISYS CL 1100, a device for determining the chlorine content in drinking water for measuring free chlorine in the emergency chlorination of waterworks. This measurement system is ideal for disinfection of clean water, monitoring of chlorine as a growth inhibitor, and product disinfection.

In the OPTISYS CL 1100, chlorine is measured by a sensor with a three-electrode design,which uses a patented automatic sensor cleaning, to ensure long life span and extremely low maintenance. It also features a membrane-free potentiostatic sensor, with no pores that can be clogged by biological fouling. The sensor features two gold electrodes on the outside, which are also resistant to fouling, making the OPTISYS always ready for use, even if no chlorine has been added for a long period of time.

The OPTISYS comes with a complete measuring panel, preinstalled and tested and ready for connection. Measurement takes place in a Plexiglas assembly, which is ideal for visual inspection and can be optionally expanded with pH measurement, in order to guarantee measurement accuracy with strongly deviating pH values.The flow of the sample is monitored continuously during operation, in order to exclude safety-critical subresults. Additional shutoff valves and a sampling point simplify measuring point checking, maintenance and calibration.

The OPTISYS additionally offers flow-independent measurement above 30 l/h, automatic temperature compensation, simple calibration through comparison with laboratory value according to DPD, and optional pH compensation with fluctuating pH values above 7.5. The integrated temperature compensation and flow control maintains the integrity of chlorine signals under all ambient and process conditions.
