EMC Information Intelligence For The Energy Sector
Energy organizations are increasingly challenged to find more effective ways to reduce costs, boost efficiencies, minimize risk of catastrophic events, and streamline compliance processes, and to do so while managing enormous volumes of data across the value chain. EMC solutions enable energy organizations to optimize and automate critical business processes so they can lower risk, liability, reduce costs, improve scheduling and collaboration, and drive competitive advantage. LO-CAT Plants At A Geothermal Power Facility Operating Well After 15 Years By Gary J. Nagl, vice president, Merichem Chemicals & Refinery Services LLC, Gas Technology Products Division
Geothermal power plants are environmentally attractive since they employ a renewable energy source which, unlike wind and solar, is continuous. However, geothermal steam contains varying amounts of non-condensable gases (NCG) such as carbon dioxide (CO2), hydrogen sulfide (H2S), mercury vapor (Hg), and, in some cases, benzene (C6H6), which if not disposed of properly may cause environmental, health, and safety problems. This article describes the operating history of three geothermal power facilities which have been operating for over 15 years while meeting strict California emission regulations.
Best Practices For Implementing E&P Technologies For Unconventional-Resource Development By Seismic Micro-Technology
Unstable oil prices and a global economic downturn place exploration and production (E&P) asset teams under pressure to more precisely characterize prospects and existing dormant assets. At the same time, data managers look to stretch shrinking information technology budgets. These challenges are particularly acute for development of unconventional resources, which entail large risks and require specialized engineering and seismic interpretation techniques.
