WY Energy Companies Promote Gas Flaring Reduction In Washington, D.C.

Moser Energy Systems & Mesa Natural Gas Solutions Present Proven Technology with Congressional Leaders & World Bank

Leaders from Moser Energy Systems & Mesa Natural Gas Solutions traveled to Washington, DC last week to meet with key leaders to discuss the companies' proven technology that turns flared gas into energy. The purpose of the visit was to examine current solutions that provide oil and gas operators with both affordable, reliable power and a means to reduce flared gas in the United States and around the globe.

"Moser Energy Systems and Mesa Natural Gas Solutions are committed to supporting worldwide efforts to reduce natural gas flaring," said Mesa Natural Gas Solutions President & CEO Jakob Norman. "We understand that to accomplish this goal successfully, and in a way that doesn't burden our energy sector and the economies it supports, we must provide an affordable and reliable solution that delivers an economic incentive to producers."

The Moser & Mesa leadership team met with the Congressional Western Caucus to talk about the future of energy production in Wyoming and throughout the Western United States. Mesa & Moser leaders also met with the World Bank Group's Global Gas Flaring Reduction (GGFR) Partnership to share details of the companies' technology, which has enabled Moser & Mesa to become the largest provider of natural gas industrial prime power generators for the North American oil fields.

Moser Energy Systems & Mesa Natural Gas Solutions offer innovative technology designed to provide oil and gas operators with cost and emission reducing on-site power solutions. Their reliable and efficient wellhead gas-powered equipment converts a waste product into energy. Their natural gas-fired generators reduce emissions by 99% in comparison to diesel-fired generators.

The World Bank Group's GGFR Partnership is a public-private initiative comprising international and national oil companies, national and regional governments, and international institutions. According to their website, the "GGFR works to increase use of natural gas associated with oil production by helping remove technical and regulatory barriers to flaring reduction, conducting research, disseminating best practices, and developing country-specific gas flaring reduction programs."

"Right now, diesel powered generators hold approximately 85% of the generator market in comparison to natural gas fired generators. Diesel generators are more expensive to operate, less reliable and are a major emitter of pollutants," said Moser Energy Systems/Mesa Natural Gas Solutions Chief Operations Officer Scott Gromer. "The potential for reducing emissions around the globe while providing affordable, reliable power to countries that need it the most is game-changing."

According to the World Bank, it is estimated that 140 billion cubic meters of gas is flared annually. This means if Moser & Mesa's natural gas fired generators consumed the entirety of that flared gas, they would be able to generate 377,546,353,305 kWh of power from flared gas. That is enough to power nearly 2% of the entire world.

Moser & Mesa released data on the cost and emissions savings achieved for one operator one year after replacing 393 diesel generators with Moser manufactured generator packages. The client saved more than $67M in fuel savings, captured 81,682,634 cubic meters of flared gas, eliminated 17,685 fuel truck deliveries, and achieved emissions reductions equivalent to removing 9,000 passenger vehicles off the road.
