Shutdowns and Turnarounds are major events that can impact a companys business and profitability, the direct influencers are revenue lost from offline time, costs associated with the turnaround event and failure to ensure asset integrity or optimize production capacity. Data from turnaround events indicate that turnaround safety, cost, schedule, and operability problems are not random. Rather, these problems are predictable months prior to any particular turnaround. The highly experienced Technical Advisory Committee Members of the Shutdown & Turnaround 2015 follows a basic yet important principle to ensure repeated success at their Plant Turnarounds. Unanimously, each one of the Committee advocates Failure to Plan effectively as the spiral to disaster. At the Shutdown and Turnaround for Efficient Plants 2015 Technical Conference, the Committee under the Chairmanship of Mr. Ismail Hammadi, Vice President - Habshan & Bab Plant GASCO, aim to ensure the common goals of plant shutdown and turnaround of establishing Process Availability and Equipment Reliability are achieved at the lowest risk/cost – this helps to achieve safe and sustainable production for the specified run duration (for eg: 2 years) at the designed rate.
