With the goal of reviewing the geosteering technics in their industrial context, we invite a wide audience to attend, not only to share their operational success and experiences, but also to dedicate those few days to understanding how well placement disciplines could impact the productivity and recovery of their assets. As can be expected, we will dedicate the first sessions to getting up to speed with the diverse geosteering practices and technologies via a prism of case studies and experiences, rather than through commercial material. Among others, two particular focuses will be facilitated to share knowledge on accessing unconventional reservoirs, as well as on the latest deep and ultra-deep measurements offering that has been recently exposed in the industry. As this was one of the highlighted topics of the previous edition, we will continue to explore the possibilities of increased subsurface understanding (structure, properties, flow) based on the integration of data collected during horizontal well drilling. Then, the beneficiaries of geosteering operations; asset managers, drillers, completion and reservoir engineers, technology managers, will be invited to present about their experiences, the benefits and performance increases it brings, and what their “non-yet achieved” expectations are. Finally, we will have an informal think tank session to provide a chance for all to “think outside the box”, where other industry specialists, also facing “precise localisation challenges” will present. These presentations will help to educate us on other once-thought-impossible challenges like “How do brain surgeons navigate the brain? How do airplanes land in the fog? What are the processes involved in automated car parking?”, to enhance our knowledge of our current challenges. A training course, Well Placement Geosteering, will take place on 7 Feb. 2016, alongside the workshop. Powered by @evvnt www.evvnt.com
