If you are involved in the design or operation of offshore vessels and are interested in learning how industry leaders such as Heerema Marine Contractors (HMC) are using CFD as part of the Naval Architect’s toolkit, this webinar is for you. Designing and operating offshore vessels can be a challenge, making an accurate understanding of vessel behavior an economic and safety necessity. While potential flow codes and model tests remain key parts of the Naval Architect’s toolkit, their limitations are well known. To prove the capabilities of CFD, validation is performed using model scale and full scale data. Based on these validations, CFD has become a valuable tool to understand and improve the capabilities of our offshore operations. The webinar will highlight the application of CFD to evaluate: * Current and wind loads on a semi-submersible crane vessel (SSCV) * Thruster efficiency * Roll damping and wave induced motions * Moon pool behavior * Lowering dynamics (added mass and damping) This online event will also feature a live demonstration of simulation software for the installation of subsea equipment. Presenters: - Harald Ottens (HMC) - Alex Read (CD-adapco) - Alex Graham (CD-adapco)
