Sand management has been identified as one of the key issues in field development in over 70% of the world’s oil and gas fields. Sand management is a balance between the risks (safety, environmental, process and cost) of producing sand to the surface vs. the risks of trying to keep it down in the reservoir. The choices are not always clear or easy to make. This workshop will explore how to decide on the right strategy to manage and handle sand for maintaining well and plant integrity, as well as increasing operations efficiency and field recovery factors in challenging reservoirs and environments. Topics covered include: Key decision factors for sand management Sand management in depleted reservoirs Sand management for injectors Solids control for carbonates Sand monitoring, handling, and disposal Remedial sand control Intelligent wells and sand control completions Sand control for High Pressure/High Temperature (HPHT) Operator field case histories and lessons learned Open hole and cased hole completions
