Gas Infrastructure & Asset Development will focus on successful gas activity in terms of operational performance, pipeline developments, compressor stations, water treatment facilities and drilling. Australia is poised to become the world?s largest exporter of LNG post 2016. LNG discoveries, CSG extraction and shale gas are all contributing to an explosion within Australia?s gas sector. Fuelled by massive demand for gas from Asia, Australia is leading the world in CSG to LNG plants. The three plants on Curtis island are the world?s first CSG to LNG plants and their commercial success is driving similar facilities in America and Indonesia. Yet with the huge volumes of gas available, a suggested shortfall will affect domestic market in 2016 as companies chase higher profits from exported gas, over the domestic market. All of these developments are ensuring that a very healthy and robust environment has grown around supporting the gas sector. CSG is extracted from hundreds and sometimes thousands of wells. Therefore the number of drilling rigs and teams has exploded. Water extraction and treatment facilities are required to deal with the massive volumes of water extracted with the gas. To transport the gas, vast pipelines are required, with compressors to keep the gas under pressure and moving. All in all extraordinary volumes of infrastructure are required, which of course must be then serviced on a regular basis.
