AADE Awards $12,500 In Fall Scholarships To Five UL Petroleum Students

The Lafayette Chapter of the American Association of Drilling Engineers (AADE) supports the educational efforts of oil and gas industry veterans and students. For the fall 2012 semester, the Lafayette Chapter of AADE has awarded $2,500 scholarships to five students studying petroleum engineering at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

This semester’s scholarship recipients include Jennifer Osten, Eric Reyes, Michael Guzman, Crystal Williams and Alexander Catlin. Congratulations to these students for being selected. Scholarship applications are thoroughly reviewed by the local AADE scholarship committee in order to provide financial assistance to qualified and deserving students.

Activities, including the annual scholarship sporting clays and the golf tournaments, help fund scholarships provided by the AADE Lafayette Chapter to state universities.

“Thank you to all who participate in AADE events that allow us to expand our scholarship contributions at state universities," said Derrick Daigle, President of the AADE Lafayette Chapter. “These scholarships offer more than just a helping hand to students. This program is another way AADE is investing in the future of our industry.”

So far, $12,500 in scholarship money has been awarded this semester. In addition, scholarships announcements at Louisiana State University and Nicholls State University are expected.
