Dresser-Rand To Showcase Efficiency And Reliability Solutions At The 2012 Turbomachinery Symposium
At this year’s Turbomachinery Symposium, Dresser-Rand, a global supplier of rotating equipment solutions to the oil, gas, petrochemical, power, and process industries, will feature products and services that offer high efficiency and dependable performance for the oil and gas industry.
Industry engineers and executives visiting booth #715 will have the opportunity to explore Dresser-Rand compression systems, magnetic bearings, pump-driven single-stage steam turbines, energy efficient gas engines, and shutdown and control valve technology.

Dresser-Rand DATUM Centrifugal Compressors
Designed for maximum performance in all pressure and flow applications in the midstream and downstream oil and gas industries, the Dresser-Rand DATUM line of centrifugal compressors offer efficiency, reliability and ease of maintenance for gas gathering, liquid recovery, gas lift, gas injection, pipeline boosters, gas storage, recompression, and reinjection. It can also be used for wet gas, hydrogen, coker, and other hydrocarbon and utility gases for refining.
DATUM centrifugal compressors are available in 15 different sizes with discharge pressures ranging up to more than 15,000 psig (1,000 bar), maximum flow rates from 5,400 cfm (9,200 m3/h) to 700,000 cfm (1,200,000 m3/h), and power ratings to more than 120,000 bhp (90 MW). Cases can be split axially (900 psig max.) or radially (15,000 psig max.) and are available in a variety of configurations and connection orientations.
Synchrony Magnetic Bearings
Dresser-Rand Synchrony magnetic bearings bring a new, more reliable fault tolerant magnetic bearing technology to the marketplace. Available in a variety of standard frame sizes in both radial and thrust configurations for use in electric motors, generators and steam turbines, these magnetic bearings eliminate the need for lubricants, offer no mechanical wear or friction, and have the capability to tailor bearing characteristics to optimize performance. The use of magnetic bearings in rotating machinery means reduced process downtime, longer machine life, improved machine efficiency through use of high-speed motors, elimination of gears, and reduced maintenance costs.
The use of magnetic bearings reduces environmental footprint by eliminating ancillary equipment, including oil lubrication systems, and have been shown to help reduce energy consumption. By reducing bearing losses, eliminating gearbox losses and improving aerodynamic efficiency, improvements in energy efficiency greater than 10 percent can often be achieved in rotating machinery.
Dresser-Rand Pump-driven Single-Stage Steam Turbines
Dresser-Rand single-stage steam turbines provide clients in the process industries with economical and reliable mechanical drives for water and oil pumps, fans, compressors, and generators. With a variety of model designs to choose from, Dresser-Rand steam turbines all meet the strict standards of API 611 and 612 and provide efficient generator drive solutions from 500 kW to 4,500 kW.
The single-stage steam workhorse turbines are cost-effective, easy to install, come in a variety of sizes and configurations to meet client specifications, require minimum maintenance, and are designed for extremely high inlet pressures and temperatures, as well as high exhaust pressures.
Dresser-Rand Guascor Gas Engines
Guascor engines help clients optimize the energy potential of their facility by combining their heating with on-site power production. By generating electricity on site and recovering heat that would typically be wasted in a conventional power plant, clients using Dresser-Rand Guascor engines experience increases in energy efficiency and substantially reduced energy costs and carbon emissions. All Dresser-Rand CHP systems can be designed to accommodate a wide range of fuels including natural gas, diesel, biogas, biodiesel, waste heat, hot water, waste steam, and biomass, and typically range from 100 kWe to 2.5 MWe with larger capacities available with the incorporation of multi-train systems.
Dresser-Rand Gimpel Valves
Dresser-Rand Gimpel valves provide reliable emergency shutdown for multi-stage steam turbine protection. Gimpel safety valves, including trip, trip and throttle and non-return valves, are all calibrated to provide state-of-the-art protection and shutdown control. Single or multiple control valves are available, depending on the power output of the turbine as well as mechanical latch-type trip throttle valves and hydraulic-operated trip and trip throttle valves.
