The Model 242 is a multi-pass,
singlemode fiber optic rotary joint
(FORJ). It is passive and bidirectional,
and allows the transfer of optical
signals on two or three separate
singlemode optical fibers across
rotational interfaces.
The Model 242 can be combined with
Focal's electrical and fluid slip rings,
or with multimode FORJs, giving a
single, compact package for optical
signals, electrical power and fluid
transfer, with ISO 9000 quality.
Typical uses include undersea
telemetry, ROVs, radar antennas,
streamers and various cable reels.
