Oilfield Helping Hands (OHH), a non-profit organization that helps oilfield families in financial crisis, was handed the ‘Best Outreach Program’ award at the 2018 World Oil Awards on October 11 at the Houstonian Hotel Club and Spa, Houston.

The World Oil Awards were founded 17 years ago to honor the upstream industry’s top innovations and innovators. This year, more than 350 members of the industry gathered at the black-tie gala for the awards. There were 290 submissions from more than 20 countries and 93 finalists were selected. The 18 winners were chosen by the World Oil Advisory Board.

Oilfield Helping Hands was nominated for the implementation of the Harvey Recovery Assistance Program, which supported oilfield families impacted by the hurricane in Houston. Since 2003, OHH has donated more than $4.5M to oilfield families in need, and $356,000 through its Harvey Recovery Program alone.

William (Bill) Markus, executive director, OHH, said, “We are extremely honored to win this award as it validates all that we do as an organization, being selected by the industry that we support. This could not have been possible without the help of corporate members, industry companies and the Greater Houston Community Foundation. Houston was severely impacted during Hurricane Harvey and we wanted to make a difference for the families and for the city that plays such a vital role in the oil industry. We are so thankful that we were able to improve the difficult situations that many oilfield families faced during and after the disaster.”
