Realtime LWD GeoPressure Estimation Over The Internet

Petrospec TechnologiesDS, TEXAS -- PETROSPEC Computer Corporation (Petrospec Technologiesds, TX) has announced a new product that automatically computes, monitors and updates formation pressure while drilling using LWD data. The product, called pWell, is based on Petrospec's popular well log analysis package GeoPressure Estimation Software (GPES). Because of pWell's unique architecture, drilling engineers can now calculate and monitor formation pressure while drilling at rig or in the office.

pWell is a new product for Petrospec, the second its product based on a new software architecture. pWell is an INTERNET/INTRANET application designed to run on a web page server and accessed across the corporate computer network through the explorationist's web browser, such as Netscape or Internet Explorer. This ingenious design allows a well's progress can be monitored by pWell in real-time from the office just as easily as it is monitored at the rig site.

pWell accepts data in real-time in the WITS (Well Information Transfer Standard). pWell produces graphical displays showing pressure trend and normal trends. Additionally, pWell can exchange data with Petrospec's popular GeoPressure Estimation Software (GPES). Many of the robust algorithms in pWell are found in GPES, with novel variations to for specific application to deepwater drilling.

When asked, Mark Herkommer, president of Petrospec, said, "pWell is the second of Petrospec's products that is completely web enabled. This shift in software design allows companies far more flexibility for hosting and delivering technical products to their employees. It is now the case that the geoscientist does not need to be on location in order to have complete control of the data acquisition and analysis process."

INTRANET applications have a number of advantages for both explorationists and IT specialists. For MIS departments maintenance of the application is performed at one convenient location. Also, software security, access, and usage are much easier to monitor. For explorationists, distributed data handling means that there is no need to turn over sensitive data to individuals outside the immediate workgroup. All processing takes place and the explorationist's desk.

pWell is available for immediate delivery for Microsoft Windows 95/98/2000/NT. For more information, please contact Mark Herkommer, <%=company%>, 281-384-6666, fax 281-364-6676, email petrospec@satoriweb.com, or visit the web site at http://www.satoriweb.com/petrospec.
