SIMMONS EDECO Names Gavin Sherwood Base Manager - Denmark
SIMMONS EDECO, a leading supplier of wellhead and valve maintenance, asset integrity solutions and onshore drilling services to the global oil and gas industry, announced that it has appointed Gavin Sherwood to the position of Base Manager – Denmark.
In new his role, Sherwood oversees all aspects of operations, marketing and financial management of the company’s new base in Denmark, which was established to support its growing customer base. The Esbjerg base, which specialises in onshore and offshore wellhead and asset integrity maintenance, supports customers in the Danish North Sea, and throughout Scandinavia and Northern Europe.
Independent service provider offers versatility, experience
Over time, Sherwood has played a central role in securing new business for SIMMONS EDECO, particularly in Northern Europe and the UK. He attributes much of this to the fact that the company is an independent service provider, with a long-established practice of hiring personnel who are experienced in working with every type of valve and wellhead equipment, regardless of the company that produces it.
“This practice sets SIMMONS EDECO apart from the competition,” said Sherwood. “Because our crews work with all types of valve and wellhead equipment, we are extremely versatile. For example, it means that we can devise a solution efficiently and deploy crews quickly, secure in the knowledge that they are experienced in working with the customer’s equipment onsite. As a result, we can offer customised service packages that offer dramatic benefits in terms of enhanced safety and efficiency, and reduced costs.”
This independent philosophy has served the company well. In recognition of increased overseas sales and international expansion achieved in 2017, SIMMONS EDECO received the Great International Growth Award 2017 at the Spirit of Enterprise Awards in the United Kingdom.
Oilfield services career spans 28 years
With 28 years experience in the oilfield service industry, Sherwood brings in-depth knowledge of well services engineering, operations and management. Prior to this appointment, Sherwood served for two years as Business Development Manager for SIMMONS EDECO at its European division headquarters in Great Yarmouth, England. Before joining SIMMONS EDECO, Sherwood worked in a variety of well engineering roles for two major UK operators, for 10 years and 16 years, respectively.
Originally from Norfolk, England, Sherwood is based in Esbjerg, Denmark.
