A Guide To Ultrasonic Flow Meter Calibration
Source: KROHNE, Inc.
Calibration is a significant factor in the performance of ultrasonic flow meters, but the timing is critical to minimize the impact on operations.
Ultrasonic flow meters — which rely on high-frequency sound waves for more precise readings — are ideal for a variety of applications because they don’t have moving parts and are not subject to drift over time. However, these meters measure fluid velocity, so they strongly depend on a known cross-sectional meter area for volumetric flow metering. Thus, any change in that area caused by buildup or corrosion may influence the volume accuracy.
