When it comes to your needs for an Oil/Water Separator, every application can be different
When it comes to your needs for an Oil/Water Separator, every application can be different. That's why Containment Solutions considers your specific application to ensure that only the right system will be specified for your job.
Oil/Water Separators from Containment Solutions, Inc. (CSI) are designed to separate free oils and settleable solids from rainwater runoff and washdown applications via gravity or pumped flow. Our separators feature 10ppm or 15ppm effluent discharge, low maintenance and superior Containment Solutions quality.
Typical applications for Aboveground Oil/Water Separators are:
Equipment Washdown/Vehicle Maintenance Facilities
Water from washdown sources are contaminated with oil and/or grease from trucks, cars and other dirty equipment. Either through direct flow or pumping when necessary, CSI Oil/Water Separator Systems remove free oil and grease to achieve an effluent quality of 10ppm or 15ppm to meet your discharge requirements. The concentrations and types of contaminants determines the allowable flow rate thru the system. Because detergents may adversely affect the performance of oil/water separators, break detergents such as CSI Cleaner are available from CSI.
Specialty application separators are also available to meet specific needs such as:
  • Mop-up units
  • Portable units on casters

Rainwater Runoff
Environmental concerns are growing because oil drippings and spills from parking lots, driveways, oil terminals and other vehicular traffic surfaces are being washed into our water supplies by rainwater. CSI Oil/Water Separators are designed to meet EPA guidelines for rainwater runoff control.
Remediation Systems
CSI Oil/Water Separators remove free oil and grease to achieve an effluent quality of 10ppm to meet discharge requirements.
Oil/Water Separator Design & Sizing
Since each site's conditions and application can be quite different, the most environmentally and cost effective approach is to analyze each situation and design the system accordingly. CSI's Technical Support engineers can evaluate each application (equipment washdown, rainwater runoff, major oil spill, etc.) as each site may have different technical considerations and should have an oil/water separator designed accordingly.
The major design parameters which determine your specific needs include:
  • Specific gravity of contaminants
  • Inlet flow rates
  • Inlet oilt concentration
  • Oil storage capacity
  • Oil spill capacity
  • Temperature
  • Effluent quality requirement

Using the Design/Sizing Questionnaire (Pub. No. OWS2026), the proper system can be designed for your application.

Application
The CSI Aboveground Oil/Water Separator is designed for gravity separation of free oil and settleable solids from wastewater. Our systems are installed either at grade or below grade (within a vault). Flow may be gravity fed or pumped using positive displacement pumps. Each application (surface runoff, equipment washdown, major oil spill, etc.) and site may have different technical considerations and should have an oil/water separator designed accordingly.
