ACTIVia

ACTIVia represents transmission and distribution substation equipment
ACTIVia represents transmission and distribution substation equipment using software components that encapsulate the I/O requirements of the equipment and their on-screen (HMI representation) behavior.

The ACTIVia system consists of a set of toolkits, libraries, user documentation, extensions and examples that replace the conventional ideas of a SCADA system. Because of this, an engineer is able to produce a highly functional software system for data acquisition and the monitoring and control of substation equipment, including the current generation of IEDs. ACTIVia takes a multi-layered object oriented approach to configuration, which is a major factor in optimizing its efficiency.

MASTER EQUIPMENT LIST (MEL):
ACTIVia utilizes the Master Equipment List to identify the components in the current system as a basis for its own database.

A relational database file (plant configuration file) containing ancillary data describing the substation plant is generated by a data capture process. This extracts the necessary data from suitable sources that contain asset information, i.e. the rating of the transformers and the material and length of the busbars.

All database modifications are carried out under strict configuration management control with different reports generated for each version after the initial release.
