API Statement On Senate Committee On Environment And Public Works Reconciliation Proposal

American Petroleum Institute (API) President and CEO Mike Sommers issued the following statement after the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works released its proposed markup of the 2025 reconciliation bill:

“We applaud the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee for taking this critical step toward abolishing the duplicative and punitive ‘methane fee’ and improving the permitting system. We support a smart regulatory framework for energy development and innovation and look forward to working with policymakers on a final package that strengthens American energy leadership.”
