Artificial Lift Company Builds On Advantage System Success

Artificial Lift Company, a Houston based oil and gas recovery technology and services company, has expanded on the success of its Advantage System technology with the installation of the first rigless Electric Submersible Pump (ESP) string in the Middle East for Saudi Aramco, announced CEO Alex Kosmala.

Developed by Artificial Lift Company, the Advantage System is a unique rigless ESP solution created to minimize costs while maximizing flow and uptime. The system’s light-weight and compact design enables easier deployment in deviated wells and downhole monitoring with all industry standard ESP gauges.

Installation of the Advantage System provides full tubing access after slick line retrieval with the added advantage of replacement operations occurring under live well conditions.

Artificial Lift Company installed a downhole ESP gauge, packer and subsurface safety valve assemblies for the unit in the first quarter of 2012. To complete the job, the company’s proprietary Permanent Magnet Motors and Wet Connect system were also supplied to Saudi Aramco.

“Following the exploration and drilling era, the oil and gas industry is increasing its efforts in the area of production and recovery,” said Kosmala. “Artificial Lift Company is focusing on raising productivity. To accomplish this, our Advantage System foregoes the need for workover rigs; the Accelerator System for tubing deployed applications, appeals to operators concerned with reliability and power savings; and our Access Service approach enables our experienced employees to work closely with customers, offering rental services and solutions at every stage of the process.”

Previous successes of the Advantage System include the installation of a 134HP rigless ESP system for Eni on the Nikaitchuq project and two additional installations for ConocoPhillips, both in Alaska. Artificial Lift Company used their proprietary Permanent Magnet Motors and wet mate electrical connectors to complete the installation. Permanent Magnet Motors are used to allow the operator to replace the entire ESP string out on slickline or coil tubing, cutting costs significantly.

“As Artificial Lift Company grows internationally, we are offering additional lift products and services that make us a first choice supplier, and we are able to complete even more challenging and complex installations,” said Kosmala.

An additional notable first by Artificial Lift Company in partnership with ConocoPhillips, includes the installation of the world’s first deployable and retrievable rigless ESP system with full bore access completed in West Texas in 2009. After multiple mates and demates as part of an extensive product test program, the system was declared commercial by ConocoPhillips. The current retrievable pump and motor assembly has been running continuously since February 15, 2011, producing 1500 BFPD.
