BP Demonstrates Its Field Of The Future Program At SPE Intelligent Energy 2010
What:
BP will showcase its efforts to leverage the latest technologies in the oilfield at the upcoming SPE Intelligent Energy 2010 conference. The BP Field of the Future program, which was designed to improve decision support by applying real-time data capabilities in production and reservoir management, will be highlighted at the conference.
Who:
BP leaders from around the world will participate at SPE Intelligent Energy 2010. David Latin, Vice President of E&P Technology, is co-chairing the Conference. Doug Suttles, Chief Operating Officer, BP Exploration & Production, will deliver a keynote speech in the opening session. Bernard Looney, Managing Director, BP North Sea, will participate in a plenary session on "Making Intelligent Energy Happen." Patrick Calvert, Optimisation Engineer, will participate in the Young Professional panel discussion. Trevor Garlick, Vice President Resources, BP North Sea, and former Managing Director BP Norway, will participate in the Business Leaders and Asset Managers Open Discussion Session, sharing his experience of Intelligent Energy application in BP Norway.
In addition, BP personnel will present 14 papers on a range of topics, including an overview of the Field of the Future program and global value delivery to date; asset case studies on the application of advanced collaborative environments and real-time reservoir management in high-cost, deepwater environments; the influence of data quality on workflows and decision-making; solutions to operational problems through the application of appropriate models and system optimization techniques; downhole flow control for high rate water injection; application of real-time data to reservoir management workflows; machinery predictive analytics; well surveillance and integrity; lessons learned from BP's deep experience in deployment and business process change.
Where/When:
SPE Intelligent Energy will be held 23-25 March in Jaarbeurs, Utrecht, Holland. The BP stand is D50.
Additional Information:
The BP Field of the Future program provides a suite of technology-based solutions, all focused on the goal of making better decisions faster. Initiated several years ago, the Field of the Future program is now a routine part of how BP builds projects and operates fields across much of its portfolio. The program impacts a significant and growing proportion of net production and routinely supports more than 80 percent of its top 100 wells. A range of monitoring, analytical, optimization and collaborative solutions are applied according to asset needs and value opportunities. Since 2007, BP's oil and gas operations, enabled by real-time data and Field of the Future flagship technologies, have delivered an extra 30,000 to 50,000 boepd gross production each year from around 25% of the company's portfolio, representing about 1 to 2% of production efficiency. The estimated impact of BP's internally developed, proprietary capabilities is a net production increase of 100,000 boepd by 2017.
