Crushable Foam Wrap

The company offers Crushable Foam Wrap (CFW), a new product aimed at the offshore drilling industry. CFW has been developed as a safety feature to absorb pressure in the event of a blow-out in down hole drilling pipe annuli.

The built-up pressure in a well causes the outer casing of the pipe to either rupture, leak fluid or cause the inner casing to collapse. New CFW is the latest solution designed to be installed around the inner casing within the annuli, through which product flows at high temperature. In the event of a substantial pressure build-up, the CFW foam will collapse, allowing expansion of the fluid and preventing further pressure increase.

Crushable Foam Wrap is a polymeric material with a micro-structure of voids, which allows the foam to be compressed. The polymer structure is designed to fail at the requisite pressure/temperature combination, which is dictated by the well conditions.
