Deepwater Casing Protection Application Note
Source: Fike Corporation
Casing strings consist of multiple joints of large diameter steel pipe that are screwed together, one joint at a time, as the pipe is run into the hole. Casing strings are permanently set in oil and gas wells with the annular space between the casing and the hole filled with cement, unlike tubing strings, which are retrievable. Casing enables various critical operations during drilling, completion and production of a well. In deeper wells there are several strings used to perform the necessary tasks at different stages of drilling and completing the well.
