Det-Tronics links with Triconex on integrated fire and gas system

Detector Electronics Corporation to develop an integrated system for the detection and mitigation of fire and gas hazards has been agreed between Kidde International company Detector Electronics and Triconex Corporation.

Both companies expect the system, based on Det-Tronics fire and gas detection systems and Triconex triple modular redundant controllers, to have a major impact across all industry sectors and offshore operations where fire and gas emissions pose serious hazards.

"This alliance will provide the first truly integrated fire and gas system with superior reliability and performance," says Jerry Slocum, president of Detector Electronics.

Combining fire, gas and life safety systems has been traditionally difficult, explains Triconex president Kevin McGlensey, often involving customized interfaces, a variety of independent suppliers and complex configurations. "Users around the world will now be able to implement an economical, pre-integrated system tuned for optimal performance," he adds.

Incorporating fault-tolerant architecture and precision light measurement open-path combustible gas detection, systems will ultimately either take action to alarm or mitigate fire or gas emissions, or report a detector fault to the operations staff.
