EarthWave 1.2 seismic imaging software shipped

GX Technology Corp. has completed the shipment of its EarthWave 1.2 Seismic imaging software to its worldwide installed client base. This release provides a comprehensive range of integrated, high-performance tools from which E&P teams may select the best solution for depth imaging, seismic modeling, and related challenges.

EarthWave 1.2 offers a variety of enhancements to velocity modeling, prestack depth imaging, and illumination analysis resulting in faster project turnaround, more effective analysis of results, and more informed decision-making. It consists of the following five applications:

Sirius 2D and Sirius 3D for velocity modeling and prestack depth imaging. Sirius provides all of the tools necessary to produce the highest quality velocity models and their associated 2D and reconnaissance 3D seismic depth images. Sirius 2D is used for velocity model building and prestack depth migration of 2D seismic lines, either individually or as a coordinated "multi-line" project. Sirius 3D is used to rapidly test the value and advisability of a full 3D Primus prestack depth imaging project by producing a 3D velocity model and selectively migrating target lines in depth. Sirius 3D can also be used to produce and refine velocity models as input to Primus, GX Technology's one-pass Kirchhoff 3D prestack depth migration.

GX II for 2D seismic modeling. GX II has been the industry standard software for seismic modeling since it was first released in 1992. Its comprehensive functionality, speed of model building, and ease of use ensured an original acceptance that continues today.

GX III for 3D seismic modeling. GXIII is especially useful for performing illumination analysis as part of a 3D prestack imaging project, allowing the user to determine if more data are required to properly image the target, to optimize the selection of imaging parameters and to analyze imaging results.

GX-VM for 3D depth conversion. GX-VM is used to quickly and accurately prepare 3D post-stack velocity models, depth convert seismic time interpretations, and geostatistically evaluate depth-related risk. GX-VM is the best choice for depthing when the geology and associated velocity fields are simple to moderately complex, or when time or cost considerations make prestack depth migration less practical.
