The Qatargas-Emerson alliance will continue to improve and sustain operational excellence for Qatargas, building on the strength of the two companies' previous collaboration to automate six multi-billion dollar world-class facilities in Ras Laffan over the past four years. As automation supplier on existing and future Qatargas projects, Emerson will engineer, project manage, install, commission, and provide long term support on the automation solutions for the oil, gas and petrochemical facilities in Qatar. In addition, Emerson will install its PlantWeb® digital plant architecture with FOUNDATION fieldbus communications, integrate third-party equipment, and provide information technology services.
"Qatargas pioneered the LNG business in Qatar, which is now home to the world's largest processing facilities," said Jacques Azibert, Chief Operating Officer-Operations of Qatargas. "We originally selected Emerson as our Main Instrumentation and Controls Contractor and supplier because the company is a world class automation leader with a business model that emphasizes both the project and operations needs, including continuous improvement and long term operational support. Emerson has proven its performance in our collaboration over a number of enormous projects, and we formed this new alliance to secure our future success through best in class automation."
"We are excited and honored to join Qatargas in this automation alliance," commented John Berra, president of Emerson Process Management. "The alliance and the projects represented give Emerson the best possible opportunity to bring together services and technology to help this valued customer sustain and improve their process and asset performance. We are committed to continued effective and efficient project development of Qatargas 2, 3 and 4, as well as long term project and operational excellence at all Qatargas' facilities."
Emerson's PlantWeb digital architecture networks the company's DeltaV digital automation systems with intelligent field devices throughout facilities. Fisher valves and FIELDVUE digital valve controllers; Rosemount pressure, temperature, flow and radar gauges; and Micro Motion Coriolis flowmeters are included under the agreement. The digital field devices continuously run real-time diagnostics that are used by AMS Suite predictive maintenance software to alert operations and maintenance personnel and enable correction of issues before they effect plant operations.
