EnergySolutions Testing Confirms Leak Detection Performance
Houston, TX - Energy Solutions International, Inc., the Houston-based leading global supplier of oil and gas pipeline management software, conducted two recent tests of its PipelineManager leak detection application as part of the company's commitment to quality and measuring return on investment for its customers. The results proved excellent, specifically in terms of detection time and location accuracy.
PipelineManager was tested on a North American refined products pipeline. The leak detection application successfully detected a 4% leak on two occasions, both in less than five minutes, and also detected a 1% leak in six minutes. The percentage leak is based on the amount of material flowing through the pipeline, so a pipeline moving 5,000 barrels per hour with a 1% leak is losing 50 barrels per hour. In the first two tests, the leak location was accurately identified to within one mile. In the third test, PipelineManager located the leak to within 4 miles of its actual location.
PipelineManager also was tested on a South American crude oil pipeline. It successfully detected a 0.1% leak in 40 minutes, and repeatedly detected a 3% leak in less than five minutes. PipelineManager consistently located the leak to within a few feet of the actual leak location.
