eni Completes Installation Of Artificial Lift Company Rigless ESP In Val d' Agri Field, Southern Italy

eni has successfully deployed Artificial Lift Company’s Advantage System rigless Electric Submersible Pump (ESP) on a well located in Val d’ Agri field, Southern Italy, announced Artificial Lift Company CEO Alex Kosmala.
Developed by Artificial Lift Company, the Advantage System ESP contains a lightweight, compact permanent magnet motor and provides full tubing access after slick line retrieval. The system is compatible with industry standard surface and downhole hardware to enable easier deployment in deviated wells and downhole monitoring with all industry standard ESP gauges.
For this project, the installation sequence required running the completion to approximately 100m below the wellhead and inserting the motor to ensure that it would latch to the wet connect. The electrical measurements regarding motor phase to phase and motor phase to ground were performed and confirmed a good latch. The motor was then pulled to reach the total depth of the completion. The system design made it possible for eni to run coil tubing and latching tools for the Flow Isolation Valve (FIV) in the well below the ESP. The incident-free installation was completed successfully to achieve all eni criteria.
“Made up of new and old wells in an environmentally sensitive area, the Val d’ Agri field is responsible for a significant portion of Italian oil production,” said Kosmala. “Due to the area’s terrain, many wells in this field are prime candidates for artificial lift and rigless technology; we are proud that eni chose the reliability of the Advantage System for this integral project.”
As part of the novel completion design, eni utilized the well to introduce a pod design to separate the oil and gas downhole in a shroud that feeds into a dual completion. The larger tubing was used for oil production and the smaller tubing for gas venting. This completion was successfully run and pressure tested.
