Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan Will Headline NPRA's 2005 International Petrochemical Conference
NPRA, the National Petrochemical & Refiners Association, is pleased to announce that the 30th International Petrochemical Conference (IPC) will be held April 3 - 5, 2005, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas. The IPC is the premier meeting on petrochemicals worldwide, assembling over 3,000 petrochemical executives representing roughly 600 companies from over 45 countries.
Addressing this year's IPC is a group of internationally distinguished speakers, led by The Honorable Alan Greenspan, Chairman, U.S. Federal Reserve System. Chairman Greenspan is currently serving his fifth term as chairman. He took office in 1987. He was designated Fed Chairman by Presidents Reagan, Bush, Clinton and Bush. Chairman Greenspan will discuss his outlook for the world economy and his perspectives on the role of energy, especially natural gas, and including LNG, in the U.S. economy at Tuesday's International Petrochemical Luncheon. Chairman Greenspan will address the luncheon live via satellite.
Monday morning's Keynote Breakfast will feature Dan Smith, President & CEO, Lyondell Chemical Company, and Wang Jiming, President of China Petroleum & Chemical Corp. (Sinopec). Mr. Smith will give his perspectives on the international petrochemical industry, especially in the United States and Europe. Additionally, Mr. Wang will present his viewpoints regarding the current activities of the petrochemical industry in Asia, with a focus on China. The Supply Chain Forum on Monday morning will feature Jim Young, President & COO of Union Pacific Railroad, and Fred Ungerer, Vice President Process Industries, SAP America, Inc. Mr. Young will discuss "The Role of the Railroad in the Chemical Industry – Past, Present and Future" and Mr. Ungerer will speak on "Unleashing Latent Profitability Through Adoptive Business."
Tuesday morning's Forum will feature Mark Sikkel, Vice President, LNG Terminals and Transportation, ExxonMobil Development Company, giving an outlook on natural gas supply. Governor Frank Murkowski of Alaska has also been invited to discuss the status and timing of the Alaskan gas pipeline.
Chemical industry employees and suppliers should attend this year's IPC to exchange ideas on the most pressing petrochemical issues and be part of a conference which has become the center of the global petrochemical community.
