Five Brazilian Blocks on Offer in Second ANP Round

Five Brazilian Blocks on Offer in Second ANP Round
Five blocks have been placed on offer in the Sergipe-Alagoas Basin of northeastern Brazil comprising 6,628 sq km in both the states of Sergipe and Alagoas. Some 13,000 sq. km are situated onshore, 32,760 sq km are offshore in water depths to 3,000 meters. The Basin is limited to the north by the Pernambuco-Paraiba Basins, through the Maragogi High. To the south, the onshore portion is limited by the Eastancia Platform and offshore by the Jacuipe Basin through the Vaza Barris fault system. To date, 28 oil and gas fields have been found in the basin, 23 onshore and five offshore. Current production is 23,000 b/d oil equivalent.

These five blocks show the diversity of the blocks being put on offer in the Second Round scheduled for mid-2000 by the National Petroleum Agency (ANP). Other onshore acreage to be offered include two onshore blocks in the Potiguar Basin, three in Bahia Reconcavo, one in the Amazon Basin, and one in the Parana Basin. Six shallow water blocks will be offered in the Campos, Camamu, Para-Maranhao, and Santos Basins. Deepwater blocks are also being offered, one in the Campos Basin and four in Santos Basin. Some of these blocks were left over from Round One and others were relinquished by Petrobras.
