FUEL-FACS+® is the Choice for Terminal Automation in Amsterdam
BP Nederland V.O.F. recently signed a contract with Control Systems International, Inc. (CSI) of Lenexa, Kansas USA to automate its Amsterdam marine terminal.
This is the 12th terminal CSI is automating for BP in Europe, and there are five more in progress. CSI is now installing its FUEL-FACS+ business and operations system at BP's largest Dutch facility. BP Amsterdam is a massive site with eight truck loading bays, two liquid petroleum gas (LPG) loading bays, two sea-going marine jetties, five barge jetties, and 80 storage tanks. Eight suppliers, 50 carriers, and 1,000 drivers provide refined product for more than 60 customers.
BP Amsterdam loads 300 trucks each day and performs 400 marine movements each month. FUELFACS+ will monitor and control all of the product movement, storage, and inventory for this entire enterprise.
FUELFACS+ manages enterprise-wide business transactions among suppliers, customers, carriers, and exchangers. It monitors and controls product movement and storage at the facility level and at the enterprise level. It is an open system that can utilize most off-the-shelf hardware.
One FUELFACS+ integrated system will monitor and control AccuLoad II presets, "smart" LPG batch controllers and weighbridges, Contrec 1030 driver entry terminals, Mitsubishi PLC I/O, Texas Instuments PLC I/O, Profibus I/O, and Enraf automatic tank gauging.
Besides controlling the facility, the same FUELFACS+ system will also account for every drop of product coming in and going out of the terminal. Its sophisticated accounting features manage all business transactions, allocations, inventory, and credit for each supplier, customer, carrier, and exchanger. It then provides the transaction data quickly and efficiently for every party who needs it. With proper security, suppliers, customers, and exchangers can even access the data they need over the Internet. FUEL-FACS+ will also be configured to interface with BP's BackOffice ISP system via TCP/IP.
The first phases of the project have started and the entire project is expected to be completed by fall of 2002.
