Gastech 2011 Leads The Way Taking The Gas Industry Into The Next Generation
Gastech 2011 will feature a dedicated Student Programme and Careers Fair to welcome a new generation of gas professionals into an industry constantly seeking exceptional new talent. These unique initiatives aim to provide an invaluable educational and networking opportunity for university graduates, post-graduates and those in the early stages of pursuing a career within the energy sector.
In an increasingly competitive energy market, in order for equilibrium and growth to occur in the petroleum industry, a skilled new workforce is essential. A 2008 Ernst & Young survey showed that nearly 90% of senior human resources executives at 22 top international oil and gas companies thought the industry faced a major talent void which they considered to be ‘one of the top five business issues' facing their companies.
The Gastech Student Programme and Careers Fair will directly address this pressing issue by creating a unique growth opportunity for young energy professionals and industry employers alike.
Gastech 2011 Student Programme
The Student Programme, held on day three of Gastech 2011, Wednesday March 23, exposes international energy students to a platform of expert knowledge, delivered by some of the industry's most respected and experienced gas leaders and strategists. This specially-tailored programme provides an unrivalled opportunity for students from many of the world's most respected educational institutions to attend, funded
by leading gas companies participating at Gastech 2011.
Students on the programme will gain exclusive access to the main conference on the final day of Gastech 2011, Thursday 24 March, observing the popular ‘Fuelling the Future' and ‘Gastech Perspective' sessions. The Student Programme will also feature a presentation from the winner of the Student Essay Competition.
Gastech 2011 Careers Fair
An unprecedented new addition to Gastech 2011 is the Gastech Careers Fair, taking place on day four and bringing together over 1,000 graduates, post-graduates and early career professionals with prospective industry employers.
‘‘Shell is a great supporter of the Gastech Careers Fair. We are delighted to be part of this event; this is a fantastic opportunity for graduates to meet prospective employers, and for us to reach out to potential future leaders.'' – Shell.
The Gastech Careers Fair operates with the support of the Energy Delta Institute (EDI) and the Energy Institute (EI) who will be running, throughout the course of the day, 'Shape your Career' Workshops. The EI will present on topics including interview techniques, CV writing, getting chartered and how to network. EDI's main objective is to contribute to the professional development of current and future energy managers by giving participants an introduction to the gas industry.
‘‘Our work focuses on development and dissemination of knowledge, skills and good practice guidance and we look forward to working with organisations from across the energy industry at Gastech Careers Fair.''Marta Kozlowska, Development Director, Energy Institute.
