GITA Issues GIS For Oil & Gas Conference Call For Papers
March 22, 2005: Denver, Colo.-The Geospatial Information & Technology Association (GITA) has issued the Call for Papers for GITA's 14th Annual GIS for Oil & Gas Conference, set for Sept. 19-21, 2005, at the JW Marriott Hotel in Houston, Texas. For the 2005 event, two new subject matter topics for the conference-distribution & gathering and nontraditional regulatory requirements-join a slate of eight other established paper topics.
With the theme Got Data? Use It! Leveraging Geospatial Technology, the conference will focus on how gas and pipeline organizations can get the most out of their technology by using their GIS investments effectively and efficiently.
Last year's GIS for Oil & Gas Conference attracted a record total of 659 attendees, 249 of whom were from user organizations-another unprecedented number. The exhibit floor, featuring 55 vendors, sold out three weeks before the exhibition opened.
"My fellow members of the conference committee know that we've just scratched the surface of the potential for GIS use in our industry," said Conference Chair Greg McCool of GE Energy. "With this conference's two new subject matter topics, I'm excited about beginning to realize that potential. It's going to be an outstanding event."
The deadline for submitting abstracts for the conference is April 29, 2005. More information about GITA's 14th Annual GIS for Oil & Gas Conference Call for Papers, including an online submission form, is available at www.gita.org/events/oil_gas/05/index.html.
