Harris Pye Focuses On Key Issues At OTC 2010

The rapidly expanding global player, Harris Pye Group (Booth: 6715), is highlighting a number of new developments at OTC 2010. The Group has a well established track record in the offshore oil and gas industry for in situ repair, upgrade and conversion of rigs, semi-submersibles, FSU, FSO, FPSO and FSRU units. Now it has an even greater range of services.

"We will be co-exhibiting with Sobrena Shiprepair Yard of Brest at OTC 2010," explains Chris David Technical Director, of Harris Pye (HPG). "This is significant because after last year's OTC our two companies signed a non-exclusive collaboration to work together providing services for refurbishment, repair, upgrade, conversion and life extension of ships and offshore assets across the marine and oil and gas fields. OTC naturally provides us with an opportunity to promote this service.

"The exhibition also gives us an opportunity to promote the role that our rapidly expanding Brazilian base can, and does, play in the offshore industry; and a recent extension of our collaboration with Future Pipe Industries (FPI)."

HPG has main stations in the UK (in Barry, South Wales), Dubai and Singapore – all three are the ASME ‘R", 'U' and 'S' stamp accredited; and offices and repair facilities in Scandinavia, Portugal, Brazil, Bahrain, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan and Australia, and has active involvement in many key marine and industrial sectors.

Growing presence in Brazil
Exploration and production in deeper waters brings its own challenges needing innovative solutions and fast turnaround, and these are what Harris Pye Brasil supply for clients. Based in Macaé in Rio de Janeiro state, this expanding facility has seen recent growth in contracts in addition to routine tasks, all of which are of interest and use to the offshore industry.

Expanded collaboration with FPI
Following the first announcement of their collaboration in 2009 to work together on supplying Glass Fiber Reinforced Epoxy Pipe Systems (GRE) to the marine & cruise sectors, the HPG and FPI, of The Netherlands, have extended their collaboration agreement. This will see HPG become FPI's exclusive marine representative, distributor and installation contractor in Australia, Brazil, Japan, Singapore, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the Unites States of America – an advantage for the offshore oil and gas industry operating in those areas.

Both companies specialise in providing services for installing and upgrading GRE pipe work and both are highly experienced in conversion work, replacing steel with GRE. This agreement sees the Harris Pye Group become FPI's preferred installation contractor for marine refit projects worldwide.
