The company owns a specialized fleet which includes four seismic vessels for deepwater marine operations and four vessels for shallow waters. The company has successfully modernized its fleet with significant investments for upgrading and expansion. Most of the vessels are equipped with advanced navigation and geophysical facilities, including 16-bit and 24-bit digital systems, for acquisition of high-resolution 2D and 3D seismic surveys. They have onboard QC and full processing capabilities, using IBM RISC 6000 and Sun SPARC workstations with ProMax 7.1 software. One of the SMNG vessels, the Akademik Nemchinov, has been upgraded for 3D surveys in co-operation with Geco-Prakla. It is capable of operating with four and six streamers. A shallow water vessel the Iskatel-5 (a catamaran) has been refitted for operations in both deep and shallow waters. A shallow water vessel Iskatel-3 (a catamaran) was designed to be able to tow two streamers for 3D seismic operations. The SMNG shallow water vessels are of ice class and the deep water vessels are strengthened ice class. SMNG is widely known for its efficient 2D data acquisition.
