Honeywell Analytics' Impact Pro protects Europe's Firefighters Against Gas Hazards

Technically versatile, ready-to-use, reliable, affordable and user-friendly: these are the requirements for gas detection devices used by firefighters today. Mobile safety provided by portable gas detectors has to protect people and property from hazardous situations, and this is why so many professional fire departments, plant fire response teams and voluntary fire organisations in Europe rely on Honeywell Analytics' innovative Impact Pro multi-gas detector.

Professional fire departments across Germany, including those in Münster, Cologne and VSU Solvay, have chosen Impact Pro over competitor products due to accuracy, ease of use, reliability and cost effectiveness. In Switzerland, the Swiss Firefighters Association has also approved the Impact Pro, optional Enforcer calibration unit and Safelink communication system after an extensive evaluation process: a contributing factor in this choice being the support of six languages in the standard configuration process as well as cross-language functionality. Elsewhere, public safety institutions have chosen Impact Pro as standard, such as the United Kingdom's Fire and Rescue Service which has equipped its' new Incident Response Units with Impact Pro units to help ensure best response to major incidents.

The Impact Pro is ideal for the personal protection of firefighters when entering a potential hazard zone where many unknown factors must be determined, as well as for protecting evacuees in situations where levels of oxygen may be dangerously low or carbon monoxide fumes present. Intuitive one-button operation, self-testing sensors and instantaneous value display of up to four gases are all part of the user-friendly safety concept for fire response units; the compact size and light weight of the units make the unit practical and easy to use in every situation. Other key elements of the Impact Pro include clear visual, acoustic and vibration signalling of alarms with three thresholds of different frequencies, as well as peak value display and cumulative average determination for toxic gas hazards

Firefighters are often faced with the toughest of operating conditions making the design of gas detection units of key importance. Impact-resistance, rugged construction and being waterproof to IP67 standard are key elements of Impact Pro design; The units are immediately available for operation and easily maintainable, making it ideal for firefighters as responses to fire alarms cannot by their nature be scheduled in advance.

Many fire departments, as well as corporate plant fire teams, state firefighting schools, training centers and professional organizations, have adopted the combination of the Impact Pro multi-gas warning device along with its innovative sensor cassette technology. This enables the user to replace all sensors in two minutes, with no intervention from an outside service company necessary. The maintenance process of the Impact Pro is further facilitated by the Enforcer, a portable testing and calibration unit that performs quick recalibration without external power sources. And because not only the initial cost of equipment but also the maintenance cost are decisive criteria today, all of the above means the Impact Pro has optimal availability, with minimal maintenance time and manageable service costs. In the unlikely event that outside assistance should be required, a competent service team can be on site within a short space of time.
