HydroFORM™ Centralizers

Source: Volant Products Inc.

Hydro-forming technology, applied in a proprietary net zero manufacturing process, is utilized to produce this high quality, high strength product. Volant has engineered and developed processes to precision form tubular steel into a variety of shapes, using pressures up to 40,000 psi to plastically flow the steel into a specially designed die structure. The result is a smooth unit-body shape which compliments today's complex well designs.

Applications
Originally introduced as a crimp-on hard faced stabilizer specifically designed for casing drilling, HydroFORM™ Centralizers are now also used in that environment where they are typically crimped onto the casing.

HydroFORM™ Centralizers have become the product of choice for operators drilling Extended Reach Horizontal Wells. The smooth geometry and wrap-around rib coverage reduces torque and drag during casing and liner installation, and improves cement distribution and bond.

The frequency of Multi-Lateral Well applications has increased significantly over the past several years. In window exiting operations, where other centralizer products were failing, resulting in hundreds of thousands of dollars lost in down time, the HydroFORM™ Centralizer has been extremely successful. With its inherent robustness, there have been no mechanical failures. HydroFORM™ Centralizers have simultaneously delivered significant improvements in friction reduction, enabling record-breaking extended reach liner installations on the North Slope of Alaska.
