Hydromechanical Drilling Jar
Two independent sections make up this jar. The upper section is a hydraulically operated jar designed to deliver heavy upward jarring blows. The lower section is a mechanically operated unit that delivers powerful downward jarring impacts. The separate sections allow optimum placement of each, with no compromise in the maximum jarring power in either upward or downward blows.
It may be run in the string connected as a single unit or separated into two sections and installed at two different locations. The two-piece design also makes it easier to transport and handle.
Rugged Design:
Bearing rings stabilize the mandrel and absorb lateral shock. Also serve as back-up for the outer wiper.
Adjustable:
Up jar is variable from minimal loads to the maximum recommended pull load of the tool. Down jar is preset to run in hole, but is rigsite adjustable.
Portable:
Two independent sections allow easy transport, handling, storage and maintenance.
Versatile:
Can be run in tension or compression. Up or down section can be run separately in different locations in the drill string or screwed together as a one-piece unit. Up or down section can be run alone without crippling the other tool, as on one-piece drilling jars.
Powerful:
Up jar has extremely powerful maximum load that uses a highly reliable, cone type piston assembly. Down jar utilizes a dependable, long lasting, slip type tripping mechanism that can be preset to a wide range of loads.
Durable:
Standard temperature rated to 400 º F with proper circulation, or 600 º F with high temperature packing. Both jars are fully balanced for hydrostatic pressures. Tools can be run 400 - 500 rotating hours before change-out is required.
Wide Range of Sizes:
Sizes range from 4 1/8 in. to 9 in. O.D.
Productive:
Large, full ID allows passage of tools through jars.
Simple Operation:
Straight push-pull operation to cock and fire the jars.
Precision:
Mechanically sealed, broached splines allow full engagement and full torque transmission without wear in either direction.
A Workhorse:
Very high overpull loads and tensile strengths.
