Hyperdynamics Updates 2008 Exploration Status In Guinea
Houston, TX - Hyperdynamics Corporation announced recently that the seismic acquisition vessel, "GSI Pacific", is currently in the port city of Conakry, The Republic of Guinea, West Africa. As Hyperdynamics' seismic partner, GSI is to begin acquisition of new 2-D seismic that will help finalize the 3-D grids to be subsequently acquired. This data will be acquired along the emerging transform margin play that runs through the Company's 31,000 square mile hydrocarbon concession offshore Guinea. The concession contains one of the largest slope shelf areas of all West Africa.
A few weeks ago Mr. James R. Spear, the Company's Executive Vice President of Exploration and Production traveled to Guinea to meet up with the Pacific. After work to assure appropriate scientific equipment and navigational configuration onboard, Mr. Spear returned from Guinea. At this point necessary crew changes and final preparations are in process to leave the port of Conakry to initiate the data acquisition.
While in Conakry, to support the current and future seismic programs, Mr. Spear and Famourou Kourouma, the Company's Vice President of Guinea Affairs, have recently established key business relations with the logistics and shipping firm of Getma Guinea. Getma is chartered in Guinea and has been operating there since 1979. They provide all the Company's in-country logistics and port services and may provide various other support including supply and chase boats. Getma's Chief Executive, Mr. Jean Jacques Grenier, has worked and continues to work closely with Mr. Kourouma, regarding all operations onshore in support of the offshore data acquisition project. When asked to comment, Mr. Grenier stated, "Hyperdynamics' exploration work is critical to economic development in Guinea and I see strong support from Guinea, just like we have had since we began our operation almost 30 years ago." He further stated that, "we are very happy to be servicing this most important hydrocarbon exploration work and hope to grow our services substantially as a discovery can be made and production established."
