Fike rupture discs (RDs) are highly reliable, cost-effective pressure relief devices. They are critical to successful onshore and offshore oil and gas (O&G) drilling, completion, and production where overpressure events can occur.

Fike RDs provide a leak-tight seal within a pipe or a vessel until its internal pressure rises to a predetermined level. At that point the disc bursts, thereby preventing damage to the equipment and the environment as well as loss of product, production downtime, and personnel injuries. The most common causes for overpressure are blocked discharge, thermal expansion, chemical runaway reactions, external fires, loss of coolant, and loss of purge gas.
